Jewellery Size Guide: Chains, Bracelets and Rings

Measure the fit you want, then compare it with the exact product and selected variant. Chain length, chain width, wrist size and ring size are different measurements. A product photograph can show a design, but it cannot guarantee the same fit on you.

Chain lengths in inches and centimetres

Where a chain sits depends on your neck, clothing, chain construction and pendant. Drape a soft tape or non-stretch string loosely along the route you prefer, mark where the ends meet, remove it and measure flat. Keep the loop loose. If you own a chain that fits well, measure its full open length including the clasp and note any extender setting.

Chain width

Width in millimetres measures across the front of the chain, not its total length or depth. A 14mm width is twice 7mm, but weight and comfort depend on construction too. Compare paper strips of the stated widths over your usual shirt for a rough visual reference. Do not use them as a tight fitted loop.

Bracelet fit

Measure your wrist where the bracelet will sit with a soft tape, without pulling tightly. Record the wrist measurement. Then compare it with the bracelet's stated length and think about how much movement you prefer. There is no single allowance that guarantees a comfortable fit for every width, clasp or construction.

An existing comfortable bracelet is a useful reference: measure it open end to end and record any extender position. Check that the new product uses the same length convention. For rigid cuffs or bangles, an open-chain length alone is not enough; ask for internal dimensions and opening details.

Ring sizes: confirm the sizing system

A bare number such as 8, 10 or 12 does not tell you whether a listing uses US, Indian or another sizing system. Do not assume a conversion without a product-specific chart. Ask which system applies to the exact ring and variant before ordering.

For a useful measurement, take a ring that fits the intended finger and measure the inside diameter across its centre in millimetres, excluding the band. A jeweller can help measure your finger and compare fit, especially for wider bands. Send the measurement and product link to support if the listing's scale is unclear.

“One size” does not establish unlimited adjustability. Do not force a ring open or closed unless the product explicitly permits adjustment and explains how. Fit can vary between designs even when a nominal size label matches.
